A message from President McCloughan:

Dear Fellow Professionals of the APA,

It has come to the APA’s attention that concerns have been raised regarding certain service-based companies that may assign a polygraph examiner to an examination without first obtaining the examiner’s knowledge or consent. Although the APA has not received formal complaints from its membership regarding this issue, we have become aware of reports from individuals outside the Association describing such situations.

Out of an abundance of caution, it is suggested that members exercise due diligence when accepting referrals or assignments from any third-party service provider. Before accepting an assignment, members should consider verifying the identity of the requesting party, the terms of the engagement, and that the assignment has been authorized with their knowledge and agreement.

As the saying goes, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”

I hope everyone is enjoying time with family and friends during the summer, and I look forward to seeing many of you at the APA’s 60th Anniversary Seminar in Chicago.

Semper veritas,

Jamie
