Biography and Additional Professional Information
Ronald E. Van Nuys, M.S.
Mr. Van Nuys started his career in law enforcement with the Greene County Sheriff's Office in Ohio as a Deputy Sheriff in 1979. After a year with the Sheriff's Office he was hired by the Fairborn Police Department in Ohio as a Police Officer. Mr. Van Nuys spent 8 years in patrol and then was selected to become a Detective. While as a Detective he specialized in frauds, forgeries, bad checks and auto thefts. During this time Mr. Van Nuys became one of the founding members of the Department's Hostage Negotiation Team and served as the lead negotiator. After 5 years in the Detective Bureau he was promoted to Sergeant. As a Sergeant Mr. Van Nuys spent time in Records, Research and Development, Administration and Patrol. After 7 years Mr. Van Nuys was promoted to Captain and was in charge of the Detective Bureau. During this period of time he developed a Crime Analysis Unit and the Internet Investigations Unit for the Department. Mr. Van Nuys is past president of the Greene County Law Enforcement Association. Mr. Van Nuys retired on April 1, 2005 after being in law enforcement for over 26 years. After a short while in retirement Mr. Van Nuys was asked to come back to the Greene County Sheriff's Office to oversee the Sexual Offender Registration and Notification Program and perform Polygraphs for the Sheriff's Office. Mr. Van Nuys also teaches criminal justice classes at colleges in Dayton and Cincinnati. While employed in law enforcement, Mr. Van Nuys entered the field of polygraph science. Ronald E. Van Nuys has been a polygraphist in law enforcement since 1991. Receiving his initial polygraph training at the National Training Center of Polygraph Science in New York.
Upon completion of his initial training and following an internship, Mr. Van Nuys was conferred the designation of Expert Polygraphist by the National Training Center. In 1991, Mr. Van Nuys eas elected a Distignuished Fellow in the Academy of Certified Poygraphists. In addition Mr. Van Nuys is a full member in good standing with the American Polygraph Association, the American Association of Police Polygraphists and the Ohio Associatin of Polygraph Examiners.
Mr. Van Nuys attained his Associates Degree in Law Enforcment from Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio. He also attained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Park University in Parkville, Missouri where he graduated with honors. He then went on and attained his Master of Science Degree from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. Mr. Van Nuys is also a graduate of the Northwestern University's Traffic Institute's School of Police Staff and Command.
