Biography and Additional Professional Information
I served as a patrolman and patrol sergeant in the Amarillo, Texas, City Police Department in the 1960s while earning a BS degree at West Texas State University. A few years later I earned a PhD in Business Administration from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa (graduated 1972). While my primary education is in economics as a monetary theorist, I also received graduate training in criminal justice from Southern Illinois University. I helped establish the Criminal Justice academic programs and taught criminal justice at the University of Alabama from 1971 to 2000 and am now Emeritus Professor of Criminal Justice. One of my graduate students during that period was Michael Capps who encouraged me to attend polygraph school (1986) while he and Bill Norris ran the Argenbright Polygraph School in Atlanta. At that time DoDPI was located in nearby Anniston. DoDPI instuctors did much of the instruction for Argenbright so that I was privileged to get to know and to have been taught by the best in the profession. I developed a part-time polygraph business during my teaching and continue to be active as a private examiner to date in Tuscaloosa with law firm office scattered around the state.
