Biography and Additional Professional Information
I was born and raised in Sandy, Utah, a suburb of Salt Lake City. I graduated from high school in 1973 and began a career in broadcasting. In 1984, I changed my career feild and pursued a career in law enforcment. I worked in retail security for several years prior to being hired on with the Utah State Department of Corrections in 1989. I graduated the corrections academy in April of 1989 and was assigned to field operations as a correctional officer at a halfway house in Ogden, Utah. In 1991, I transferred to a halfway house in the Salt Lake City area, where I served as a correctional shift supervisor and residential parole officer. As the halfway house catered to inpatient sex offender treatment, I supervised sex offenders during my seven year tenure and 1997 I completed training and was certified by the Utah Peace Officer Standards and Traing as a Peace Officer. I then transfered to Adult Probation & Parole where I supervisied all types of offenders.
In April of 1991 I accepted a position with the departments Law Enforcement Bureau as an investigator. In September of 2004, I was chosen to complete training as a polygraph examiner and attended the Backster School of Lie Detection from September thru November of 2004. I interned with the state of Utah between December of 2004 and November of 2005. In November of 2005 I completed all necessary requirements and received my license as a certified polygraph examiner in the state of Utah. In November of 2010, I attende basic PSCOT training at the Bacskter Shool of Lie Detection and in February of 2011, I was certified as a PCSOT examiner.
