Executive Summary: Renouned experts in voice spectrum analysis,
Drs. Hollien and Harnsberger of the University of Florida, conducted a
thorough study of the Computer Voice Stress Analyzer (CVSA) and Layered
Voice Analysis (LVA) for the Department of Defense (DoD). Using both
lab and field data, they reported neither device achieved accuracy
greater than chance. Criticisms received after the study from the
device manufacturers had been disproven in the experimental design.
Based on this and other research, the devices were not approved for use
by the DoD.
